Supply Chain Re-Vetting: Finding Your Q4 Backups
Siam Advice Firm•Logistics Analysis
The intense volume of August was a "Stress Test" for your suppliers. Some passed with flying colors; others struggled with late deliveries, quality defects, or communication blackouts. In September, you must perform a Cold-Eyed Vendor Audit.
The 'Red-Yellow-Green' Audit
- Green: Suppliers who hit >98% on-time delivery. Reward them with early payment or a Q4 volume commitment.
- Yellow: Suppliers who were late once or had minor QC issues. They need a "Performance Correction" meeting this week.
- Red: Suppliers who failed during the 8.8 sale or the mid-August peak. You must find a backup for these before September 30th.
Finding the 'Plan B'
Thailand's industrial zones are full of "Hungry" Tier-2 suppliers who are eager for a chance to work with foreign firms.
- The Action: Send out 5 Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to new potential vendors today. Even if you don't switch immediately, having a vetted, quoted, and "Ready-to-Ship" backup is the best insurance you can buy for the Q4 "Golden Quarter."
